Roorkee Chair Class

$400.00

The time has come for our first ever class in our new workshop in downtown Menard, Texas! Join us this coming November, the 10th through the 12th, for an immersive workshop where you’ll craft your own Roorkee Chair, a timeless design blending elegance and function. Using 10oz English Bridle leather, you’ll learn traditional leather working techniques including saddle stitching, using copper rivets, finishing techniques and more. You will also gain hands-on experience with a variety of leatherworking tools and equipment in our workshop. No tools are required—everything you need will be provided. Whether you’re a seasoned artisan or new to leatherwork, this class offers a unique opportunity to create a classic piece of furniture while mastering essential skills. This chair will be built based off of the research by Lost Art Press in their Campaign Furniture book. We will build a slightly taller version of the Roorkee Chair than what is described in the book. This chair is a little easier for most folks to get in and out of, the standard chair that is featured in the book is a little on the low side. The version you will build in class is ~3.5” taller than the book version.

This class will focus mainly on the leather working portion of the chair. The legs and stretchers will all be pre-turned by Blake Loree as they require a lot of turning that is accurate and consistent. We will be doing some woodworking in class, mainly drilling and reaming the mortises as well as installing all of the hardware.

The cost for this 3 day workshop is $1400 with a $400 deposit required to save your spot.
